Maternity Wedding Dress? Please help me.

Hi guys.... Well. I discovered yesterday after 3 positive pregnancy tests that I am pregnant. We are getting married in 4.5 months time. So to say I am shocked is a massive understatement. I do feel excited though. Going to get the bloods done tomorrow.

I went online to have a look at some maternity dresses. Was on about 8 sites and nothing!! NADA!! All maternity 'wedding' dresses are actually dresses you'd wear to a wedding, not the actual wedding dress!!

So i'm panicking a wee bit now.... Can anyone please please point me in the right direction? I got my dress a week after I got engaged and I have it 6 months. Now i've to get another dress at this late stage and I can't find anyone who does maternity.

    Help. Thanks so much.x

How far gone will you be? About 6 months or so? A friend of mine was 8 months and wore a top/trousers ensemble.

    Huge congratulations btw :D

    Congrats x 2!

Take a look at this site, tons of gorgeous stuff and prices seem cheap. It's an Chinese site:

    http://www.shirleysdress.com/maternity-wedding-dresses.htm

I googled "pregnant bride dress" and got loads of suitable hits.

Congratulations!! I'd suggest actually phoning around a few bridal stores. Some may well have them in the store, just not on the website. I'd say the shops would probably be able to tell you where sells them, they probably get asked often enough.

You may not need a specific maternity dress, a lot of normal dresses have bump room, the staff will be able to point you in the right direction. Double congratulations to you!!

I was 4.5 months pregnant for my wedding and with the help of a good dressmaker, got into the conventional dress I had already bought, and it didn't look weird :) Some girls get big quickly, some don't. My point is you may not need a maternity dress, as long as the one you choose isnt too figure hugging. Though I don't know how far along you will be.

I googled 'maternity evening gowns' and saw some beautiful white dresses.

Maybe look at dresses with an empire line as these with definitely be suitable. I've seen dresses in regular bridal shops in this style that are lovely. shop assistants should be able to point you in the right direction. congrats !

Guys thank you all so much for the replies.

I guess I was googling the wrong terms. ;)

To answer a few questions... I can't get my existing dress modified. I bought it slightly too small and was almost into it. I had another 8 pounds to lose. So the fact that it's still too small now and then to make it bigger..... no. It actually wouldn't suit the dress itself either so that's not a goer.

I will be 5 months gone on my wedding day. I can't believe i've just typed that. What the actual F. Still in shock here! :D

I would prefer if at all possible not to rent my dress because it just seems impersonal to me. I would love to keep my dress for sentimental reasons. Even if it lives in the wardrobe for the rest of my days. :)

Thanks so much for your help so far guys. if you see any other good links or if someone knows a good dressmaker in North Dublin city, give me a shout. Cheers. ;)

I was 5 months getting married.
Wore a normal dress with corset back and took the original panel out of the back and got my dressmaker (my granny) to add a larger panel so I could wear it looser !

    I've attached a pic

    Congrats!!
As others have said, lots of non-maternity dresses should be fine and they should be able to advise you in shops of styles that would suit. When I was 5 months pregnant I wasn't really showing much and fitted into clothes that were just a bit bigger than pre pregnancy. I know a girl who was 7 months on her wedding day and managed to get her dress altered and it looked fab so might be worth checking with a good dressmaker if anything could be done to your dress to make it work. Good luck!

Tiffany Rose are quite affordable, almost certain that David's Bridal used to do a maternity range too but the site is returning an error atm
