Amazon question

On amazon, are you allowed to leave reviews for products you've bought, but bought elsewhere from amazon? I bought something from a seller's direct website. It didn't work and he won't refund. I told him I'll leave a negative review of his product on amazon, but he says this isn't allowed a I didn't buy it from amazon and it will be "taken seriously."

They send a link after you purchase to the review page, dunno how you'd gain access otherwise.

I've often left reviews on amazon for things I've bought elsewhere, there's a link on every page that says "Create your own review." I know how to do it, I just don't know if I could be sued for it or something.

Make a complaint to Amazon could be another option.

A complaint about what? The seller threatening me if I leave a bad review?

The best tip I have about Amazon would have to be, do not piss in the water.

They have little fish there that will swim up your japs eye and uses a barb to jam itself up there. Ouch.

A complaint that one of their 3rd party sellers is refusing to refund on a faulty product. I'd be very surprised if they don't take that seriously as it sheds them in a bad light even if they didn't sell the product directly.

I would assume about how it didn't work and he won't refund you. But in answer to your original question yes you can leave reviews for anything on amazon even if you didn't buy it (in fact some people say they bought it else where in the review)

Be sure to leave negative seller feedback too!

    Hope you get it sorted.

And refusing a refund. If they get several complaints they might scratch them from their site.
Who knows.Worth a try just to see what they say.

I'll try that. I've just left the bad review. I'll let you know if he tries to sue me!

Why are you being so secretive about the item?

Was it a latex dildo suit?

Contact the trading standards agency for whatever country they're in,probably illegal not to give a refund.

What's he gonna do? Leave you some bad feedback or whatever. Just put the review up.

Lots and lots of people getting court dates lately for bad reviews.

And i think the companys are mostly winning with costs awarded.

Is Amazon down right now or something? Why don't you.. you know.. go to Amazon and try and leave a review?

Won't he just get the review removed saying you aren't a verified buyer since you didn't purchase through Amazon?

It was 2 mushroom growing kits.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,060 ✭✭✭Kenny Logins

It was 2 mushroom growing kits.

..and what happened, only one mushroom grew? :pac:

Aaah! Light dawns. Mushroom kits often fail but it is invariably because the purchaser has used them wrongly. Human error. Crop failure - it happens. Had you enough heat at this time of year? Did you contaminate them?

As for involving Amazon. Why on earth would you? You did not buy through Amazon but directly from the supplier.

You bought the sun and shit?

I followed the instructions and kept them at the temperature required. I don't want to "involve" amazon, just review the product and say it didn't work and the seller wouldn't refund. I wish I'd seen a review like that before buying.

I bought mushroom spores and pots of stuff to grow them in with fruiting chambers to fruit them in.

Nothing grew. One kit was a large box which colonised but no mushrooms grew. The other kit was three small pots which didn't even colonise.

I brew beer from kits, and sometimes **** can happen in the brewing process. Something could contaminate the beer and the whole batch will go off, hasn't happened to me yet, but these things do happen. I had an issue when I bottled my last batch that some of the bottles weren't sealed properly, so air got in and a few went stale. None of that is a problem with the kits, it's down to the user.

Now, I would imagine that your mushroom kits are much the same, they give you what you need to produce something, but that it can't be guaranteed to produce a result.

Well, it should say so. The seller actually told me it was "guaranteed" then refused to refund. Anyway I think it's fair to warn people in my review that both kits failed for me, but the seller doesn't think so.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,944 ✭✭✭✭Links234

That seems a ridiculous thing for a seller to guarantee then

    My review has mysteriously disappeared.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,664 ✭✭✭MrWalsh

The seller probably asked Amazon to remove it and as it didn't pertain to a transaction that went through the site they did.

Why don't you go after your refund with PayPal or the credit card company? And post your negative reviews on any sites where Mr Mushrooms product is mentioned.

    My review has mysteriously disappeared.

To be perfectly honest, I am not in the least bit surprised. Not having purchased through Amazon, their review facilities are not there to crib about a dispute with a supplier.
