Psychology Vs Clinical Psychology - assessing personality disorders?

Firstly, I'm very aware of the rules of this forum, in terms of not recommending a psychologist by name, and that's fine.

I was recently, on the advice of a psychiatrist, advised to contract psychological services privately, in order for them to conduct thorough personality assessments.
A test mentioned within that, was the MMPI?

In any case, I was browsing the psi.ie website, and noticed the discrepancy between psychology and clinical psychology.

Further examining the clinical psychology websites that were referenced, they mentioned specifically certain issues they deal with such as chronic fatigue and lethargy, possibly following traumatic brain injury.

I suppose my main question would be, in terms of have the facilities to conduct these personality assessments, would it be a clinical psychologist I should get in touch with?
Or would that vary on one psychologists background or specialty to the next?

Yes, a clinical psychologist would be best.

There are lots of different kinds of psychologists as you will have seen from PSI: Educational Psychologists, Occupational Psychologists, Clinical, Counselling, etc.

MMPI is the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory - it's one of a number of different personality questionnaires, has been used for donkey's years, well-researched etc etc.
