    What sort of money am I looking at to talk to a solicitor for around 20 mins to half an hour? It's a smallish country firm if that makes any difference. Thanks

    +1 on above, depends on the firm. If there's none else in the area then you may have to pay a nominal amount.

    Never believed in giving free consultations.

    There are stories of guys working their way around the area picking brains for no charge.

    If the situation is complicated, and most are, it takes some time and energy to establish actual relevant facts and advise
