Peak metal polish will do the job

Peek/Autosol/Barkeeper's Friend/Meguiars Metal Polish will all do the job - take yer pick.

Halfords carry the Megs and the Autosol, if you're near Letterkenny.

    Autosmart franchisees carry Peek.

    D.I.D Electrical stock Barkeeper's Friend.

Might be worth considering protecting the surface when you have returned it to an acceptable state...save you having to re-do it frequently. Though if you were to give it a light buff with polish everytime you wash, it'll never get too bad.

Any sort of protection will do a job of delaying the poor finish returning. So a regular wax or sealant for the paintwork will be better than nothing. Then there are specific metal waxes and sealants, but again, mightnt be too much more durable than paintwork waxes or sealants. Its not a job that I'd want to be doing on a regular basis, so I'd be looking into something that will offer quite long durability. There are products out there that will offer up to one years protection. Such as CarPro DLUX, Gtechniq C5, etc
