Google photos Backup Failed

I keep getting backup failed on the google photos app. There used to be a cloud icon on the thumbnail for each photo that was backed up but this is not on any of my photos any more. Has this changed on lollipop is does it mean none of my photos are backed up.

The battery on my nexus 5 is terrible at the moment and I want to do a factory reset to see if this helps any but I want to make sure my photos are backed up first.

can you not look online using a pc or laptop or tablet and see if they are there?

Didn't know if you could do that. I had checked using the browser on my phone and it just redirected to the app. Don't have a laptop at the moment but will check that tomorrow. Should the cloud symbol show on the photos though.

The cloud symbol is gone in latest version of the app.

I was getting backup failed as well at one point. Can't remember how I fixed it. But I do remember it was only failing one 1 photo.

The only way to be sure is check on the web site.
