Tapering house

    Hi all,

Just looking for some opinions please - our new build is on a tight site, which is wider at the front than the rear. The plans we have to date have a tapering wall on one side from front to rear.

I'm just wondering what the implications might be to have non-square rooms apart from the obvious furniture placement. Would we be better off squaring off the rooms at the expense of square footage? Can imagine it might get annoying!

    Cheers

Show us the plans (minus the designers details thanks)

What has your architect had to say in response to your concerns?

Personally, if the design in right and the spaces work, I see no issue with an angled wall

Can't share plans with you right now, but just imagine a square living room at the front of the house with one angled wall, the room which is behind that will have that same wall along the left hand side. I can understand how it would work better in an open plan environment but just concerned how this would work in a smaller room.

Like would the fireplace be on a slanted wall?

Edit: Haven't discussed this with architect yet, on the cards for next meeting.
