Looking at getting an 03 passat..only thing I'm unsure of is it has a straight through exhaust...I know it would be loud but my problem is would it pass the NCT with this exhaust or would it have to be remove each time

All you need to replace is the Catalyic converter pipe and it will pass (Maybe ask the seller does he still have it from when he removed it, would have been a dumb move for him to scrap it for a quick buck)

If my car can pass on noise yours will :)

As above a straight through exhaust is a system (or just a pipe) with the cat and resonator boxes removed

    Resonator shouldn't present any issues
Cat will need to go back on to pass however.

No cat needed for a diesel of that vintage. Just make sure its under the decibel threshold and has at least one backbox for the nct.

Must be a coooooooool sound from her on lift off, some anti christ to go hai

Ex Jap scum came to VAGs for the Daysul and ruined the rep of a good bunch of enthusiasts. How many black boras on replica bbs's with reverse rake and a Van Aaken sunstrip is there in the country? To answer the OPs question afaik diesels don't require a cat to pass just be under a certain level with smoke.

Ex jap scum? Bit harsh! I think these guys are twits to do this to their cars but calling them scum is a bit much! I was a member of vagdrivers a few years ago and tbf the replica bbs wheels and lowered to the ground look along with German plates was very much all the rage over there before it became more mainstream and popular with the masses. Things come into and out of fashion, that's life! If somebody back in the 80's told you boxy starlets would be all the rage and even increasing in value now would you believe them? Probably not. Trends come and go, as daft as these passats and boras look the people drving them aren't doing any harm. Young men will be molesting and making their cars look daft for many more years to come!

Careful now, the feelings of some may be slightly hurt, especially those that rabbit on and on about build quality and they don't make them like they used to nonsense...!

But in all seriousness, bit harsh calling them scum isn't it...?

    ROFLs the irony is teediddledy-icious.

Somewhere a good bunch of Japanese car enthusiasts are breathing a sigh of relief. "Thought we'd never get rid of those trackies-tucked-in-socks crowd, ruining our rep. But don't they look so happy now booing and cooing and chooing in their agri machinery. Squinting out a letter box in front and a cancerous cloud behind. Dirtbags with dirty engines, poetic isn't it? I shall compose a haiku"

    Or maybe not.:pac:
All in jest derv-boys! Apart from the dirt and the cancer obviously.

Yeah definitely too harsh, I type as I speak! I mean the trackie wearing/sheep crew. There is bad and good in all types be it german, Jap or muscle for the yanks! I love a mix of all and have had a subaru before. I love all things jap and the ideal car is a unmolested dc2 but that doesn't exist it seems!

Dc2 integras are making stupid money for a clean one in japan :(

Its crazy, I will never own one at this stage. On a shameful side we had an 80's Laurel in the 90's which was perfect. Only for the father to turn it into a stock car. Old skool guys would pay a bit for it these days!

Hah! I had a Corolla K-30 with a 200-channel CB radio in it in my Hair-Oil days. Not much in the way of a floor left, bit of Fred Flintstone going on but by furk what a little belter of an engine. I missed the previous generation with their Elvis Presley bugger-grips and Hillman Hunter with a little plastic Virgin Mary glued to the dash, under the oversize fluffy-dice. Rock on, Daddyo.
