Thinking of buying Focus CC 1.6 - am I mad!?

I've been looking at upgrading my 00 Golf which has given me a lot of problems over the years (not sure if they're generally so so on reliability or if I've been a bit unlucky with my one).

I have about 8k to spend, and find myself inexorably drawn towards this:

    http://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/ford/focus/used-2008-ford-focus-cc-1-6-2dr-dublin-fpa-120314187485319510

Looks-wise, I know a lot of people don't seem to like them. I'm not fussed on that front as I think it looks mint (might change my mind in the flesh I suppose), but I've read online that there are issues with some of these around the roof seal.

Car review sites talk about this being the case mostly with early models. As this is an 08 and the car was in manufacture from 06-10 I would think I might be ok on that front? Is it possible to find out when a car came off the production line?

Other reports indicate that as a 1.6 this wagon won't exactly be leaving anyone in it's slipstream, but again I'm not overly fussed on that front.

Big pluses for me are the mileage and 12 month warranty.

I also note that this appears to have cruise control which according to Parker's (http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/ford/focus/coupe-cabriolet/equipment/) makes it a CC3, but from reading elsewhere I got the impression that the CC3 was only for the 2.0 diesels.

Anyone got any experience or opinions on this? I'm open to suggestions on alternative options also.

    Thanks!

EDIT: Probably worth mentioning my typical usage - I drive Ranelagh to Leixlip every morning through town, along quays to Palmerston bypass, then home down the M50 and in via Tallaght, so a mix of town and motorway for ~200km a week. About once a month/six weeks motorway to Tralee and back to Dublin.

Parkers is a UK based publisher so Irish specs will be different to UK specs. That particular car does have cruise control, the buttons are located on the steering wheel between the spokes. It also has the upgrade Sony stereo. Not much else going for it though imo, it's not very stylish from most angels, compared to similar cars and they were not very popular here.

HOW ABOUT A 2007 VW EOS WITH 22000 MILES ON THE CLOCK FULL LEATHER FROM LAMBE O CONNOR

My wife owned 08 hatchback 1.6 and found them to be very thirsty on the Motorway. I always felt that it needed a 6th gear as at 120km you'd be hitting 3,800 rpm and could really hear it. Other than that it was fine other than water getting into the spark plug wells occasionally after heavy rain. Driving was nice especially round town but on long journeys my back would ache but that could just be me. A good long test drive should help.

Thanks for the info. Any alternatives you could suggest that might be more economical on the motorway?

Just for the record, I'm definitely not married to the idea of getting a cab - just that the one linked looks very clean and has great mileage plus the 12 month warranty. Most of the hatchbacks I saw that were of similar quality were private sales. I'm pretty reluctant to buy without warranty.

Not sure really. Maybe folks more expert than me could advise. Astra maybe. A bit more sporty too. Not sure bout reliability etc.
