If you don't intend to pay for Irish Water and are willing to make a paper airplane out of your Irish Water application form then this hotel in Dublin will give you 50% off your hotel bill.
    https://www.facebook.com/CharlevilleLodgeHotel
Did you register for Irish Water today? If so, you are a little silly, as paying for something twice doesn't seem to make much sense. If not, don't worry! You may not get your free €100, but we will reward you just as much here at Charleville Lodge Hotel Dublin.
If you present your ‪#‎IrishWater‬ application form on check in at our hotel in the form of a paper airplane, we will give you a 50% discount on your room rate. Yes, I said 50%! So, if your bill comes to €200, you will get your €100 reward anyway!
You need to be imaginative with your airplane though. I don't want any lame attempts! You need to book either over the phone 01 8386633 or by email info@charlevillelodge.ie. Don't forget to mention you are in possession of an Irish Water airplane at the time of booking.

Anyone that registered online is sorted so, €100 back from the government and €100 back from this crowd ;)

Technically you're sorted if you registered by post too.. since you get two forms (both a form in English and Irish)! :D

Thought I recognised the name of this hotel.
They got themselves in hot water last year during the Garth Brooks silly season by claiming that they knew that the gigs were going ahead - presumably to attract bookings - and were subjected to a pile of abuse on Facebook and Trip Advisor when it was found that they were making it up.

Their marketing guy isn't afraid of novelty ideas.

They also posted the cartoon that Muslims don't like on their Facebook page,

When asked to take it down by a potential customer they claimed it was sean penn in a bakers hat and got away with it

A nice Muslim lady rang the hotel today complaining (politely) about the “image of the Prophet Muhammad" we recently shared on our Facebook page. She appeared to be a well-educated lady and spoke with a soft, gentle voice. She said that visual depictions of the prophet are explicitly prohibited across the globe and only oral and written descriptions of him are permitted. I explained to the lady that the man in the image was not the prophet, it was Sean Penn wearing a baker’s hat. “What do you mean”, she replied, “it IS the prophet”. I then asked her “madam, if pictures of the prophet are forbidden across the world, how do you know what he looks like?” The lady went silent. I continued “and more importantly, if you don’t know what he looks like, how can you say with any degree of accuracy that the man in this hand-drawn cartoon is actually him?”. More silence ensued.

After a conversation in which there was more silence than words spoken, the lady began to see reason in my argument. She ended up believing that the man in the cartoon was indeed Sean Penn, as she was able to make a visual comparison between Sean and the figure in the drawing. This kind of comparison could not be made in her original argument, as she didn't know what the prophet looked like in the first place.

Like most guests leaving our hotel, the lady left the conversation a happy camper.

If anyone else has taken offence to the pic we shared, please be advised that as far as we are concerned, the man depicted in this pic is Sean Penn wearing a baker's hat. Believing that a man in a cartoon is somebody that you have never seen before is nearly as deluded as believing in a god for whom we have no proof or evidence. Not quite as deluded. But certainly nearly.

Haven't stayed with them before but I would go out of my way to stay with them after reading that.

This is seriously a real hotel?
This is a message for the persistent gentleman who is incessantly calling the hotel insisting on speaking to me about a complaint he has. If this man doesn’t happen to be on Facebook, this message will not go to waste, as I want everyone to be aware of it in any case.

In the unlikely event that you have a complaint, you have two options: (a) You lodge it over the phone with the manager on duty who will do whatever it takes to resolve your grievance without hesitation (I mean that. If you have a genuine complaint, we will jump through hoops to sort things out for you). (b) You write me an email and I will investigate your complaint and get back to you as soon as possible with a suitable resolution.

Following one of the above options is the best course of action, as it ensures a measured and considered response to your complaint in the event that you are an asshole. If I speak to you over the phone and you turn out to be an asshole, I will most certainly end up saying something I will regret. I am a very direct person and I ‘say it as it is’. Indeed, I wouldn't put it passed me to tell you ‘where to go’ (I won’t actually say 'where to go', I will probably use two words, the first will have four letters, the second will have three). But of course, this is only if you were an asshole. If you were a well-mannered gentleman and had a genuine complaint, I would of course respond to you in a similarly polite and professional tone.

The chances are that you fall into the non-asshole category, as it is only a small minority of customers who tend to be assholes. I just wouldn't want to risk it.

    I trust you will understand.

    Many thanks,

    Paul V. Stenson
    Director

    Marketing working well so.
Plenty of radio coverage for this hotel as well.

Going with Ryanair business model of "treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen", I see.

Overall rating on tripadvisor is so-so, but if you were up for a match or a gig, then you can't really go wrong with 50% off.

In fairness if you get a double room for €50 its quite a good deal for Dublin these days where a lot of places start at a minimum of €80 a night. The lad behind the marketing is clearly getting lots of coverage so fair play to them for doing something different
