Buying Vinyl Records, Cork, Ireland

Could anyone give me a hand with buying vinyl records in Cork? Just starting to collect and not really sure what shops have a good collection. Also, is there any good Irish vinyl website? With shipping costs from the UK all the vinyl becomes a bit too expensive, so an Irish site would really help!
    Thanks!

Plugd Records in Cork http://www.plugdrecords.com/ for vinyl.

As for online in Ireland, don't think there is one, if anyone knows, please tell me, but maybe shops would post.

Rollercoaster Records in Kilkenny is a great shop. Ben O'Neill in Dungarvan Waterford is not bad.

If you think shipping costs from the UK are bad, wait til you start buying from the US...

HMV and HD Wow or whatever they're called both post for free to Ireland. Tower Records also have a website, but I don't know if the stock is well updated or what they charge for shipping. Generally Amazon Marketplace is still the cheapest including the shipping though.

Ordering direct from record labels is an okay deal sometimes as well.

    Hi,

All City Records are Dublin based and do mail order.

I know those places post to Ireland, I understood the question asked about Irish vinyl sites as, is there any specific sites within Ireland that you can order from, that post from Ireland. Something equivalent to an Amazon, Play or WowHD, but Irish.

Musiczone in Douglas Court is a great shop, and they have a website that you can order from also. I think shipping is free if you buy more than 2 or 3 records at a time......but nothing beats going in to the shop and browsing

As above, Rollercoaster in Kilkenny is very good.

I went into HMV in The Crescent in Limerick a few weeks ago and picked up a couple. They have a good selection in fairness to them.

Thanks for all the help guys!

For being in the Cork found Plugd have very good! Haven't made it in to Douglas to check Music Zone out yet but from the site it looks like they have a great selection of records. And for those asking, they do have a site!

For second hand, I find Records and Relics and Ripall very good in the city, and the Plugd in the city for new vinyl.

Music Zone have a great selection of vinyl in stock, really worth having a look through, and they do online services too, with what they have in stock and special orders online.

Golden Discs are also now dealing vinyl, but selection isn't huge and also quite pricey, still worth a look though!

Musiczone are great, been a big fan of them recently. Records & Relics in town have a decent used selection, and Pludg are alright if a bit on the obscure side in what they stock.

On a side note, can anyone tell me of anywhere (electrical) in Cork city that might be able to repair my record player? it is playing slower than the normal speed for some reason and I don't know what the problem is :(

Don't think there is anywhere in cork that specialises in turntable repair I know there's Is a place in Galway but that's not too convenient I would try the audio visual repair centre to the right of holy trinity church cork they are pretty good with all things electrical and if they can't help you they will know someone who can ....

Cracking service and very helpful for any thing they may not have in stock, would definitely recommend Music Zone.

Have you tried sites like Adverts.ie or donedeal? U can usually find decent quality second hand and sometimes new vinyl on these sites. As for postage? I'm not sure. I paid 4 euros for delivery on one LP but it was well packed and arrived promptly.

I have been using Musiczone in Douglas for a few years now. Can't fault them. Great selection of vinyl. Everything from pop to death metal. Great for orders as well. Guys behind the counter really know their stuff. Also great craic in the shop if you get involved in the sometimes bizarre but wonderful conversations that the customers have with each other and staff!! Great record store all round......

Try Aquarius Sound in Celbridge. Shipping is quite cheap up and down with Nightline (they use them as their courier).

I have vinyl for sale - 7" and 12" singles mostly and some albums (U2, Hendrix, etc). Can send a list if you are interested. I'm not a shop - just clearing space at home and don't even have a turntable anymore!

I'd like that list porcino. Bang it in a PM if you have it handy. Just bought a turntable last week.

    ;)

It's great to see so many shops popping up around Cork doing vinyl records now. Such a revival, making a lot of stuff a lot easier to get hands on, for us who have been collecting for years. Nearly everything is available at this stage, and with the likes of Record Store Day there is some great versions coming out. I must say I love Music Zone in Douglas as most of you have said. Great collection in there, staff are very friendly and helpful, and they've just expanded there selection. Their site's nice as well. For new I find them the best there is in Cork or Ireland. I love Records and Relics for second hand, such a quirky shop and some great LPs in there, so they're my go to for second hand!
