Oil Boiler

Before I call a pumber, just in case its something I can fix myself.

Have an oil burner located out in the backgarden shed. It hasn't been fired up in nearly a year as the house was unoccupied. Switched it on today and it comes on no problem. It runs for about 10 minutes and then stops. Usual the pump, which is located inside the house, kicks in then and the rads start to heat. But this isn't happening. Oil tank was filled and the burner doesn't trip out, but does not fire up again once it stops.

Hope somebody can understand what Im describing and give me some pointers.

    Cheers.

Sounds like circulating pump is stuck, if your anyway a DIYer then you could attempt to free it, do you feel competent enough to try ?

Yep, I would be competent enough to try it.

Turn off power. Find the circulating pump and you'll notice a large plug in the middle that has a large screwdriver slot, put down some rags and remove the plug, you'll have a small amount of water leak, inside you'll find the shaft of the pump, using a smaller screwdriver manually turn the shaft a few times, replace plug, switch on.
