There's definitely a lot of hate for cold calling out here ! so I'd like to hear from the cold callers themselves :)

Do you like your job ? how long have you been doing it ? what are the people you deal with like ? and of course some funny work related stories.

Also if you're not a cold caller, feel free to share your experinces bad, good or indifferent.

One of my strangest experience's in cold calling to date was calling a woman in her 80's who absolutely refused to buy anything from me unless I went on a date with her ! needless to say i got the sale ;)

    This is great.

Maybe we should open a clampers thread too.

Then we could link to your IP Addresses and bomb you all back to the hells you spawned from.

It's impossible to call a cold caller

People forget that there's a person at the other end of the line, who has to pay bills, has to eat, and maybe take care of a family. I doubt it's the ideal job for most of them, but the hate should be directed at the companies and their system instead of the callers.

And if they take up your valuable time while you trying to make a living to feed your family?
I noticed that being polite never got you anything except the hard sell. You'll get the same eventual rudeness with a "fcuk off" but at least you wont waste any time.

If someone is rude to me they have no right to expect me to be polite back to them regardless of if they are being paid to be rude or not.

I'll always start out with a polite no thank you, but if they keep going (which they always do) I have no problem closing the door in their face or hang up on them.

Call back in the summer when it's warmer?

I did some cold calling back in the day and I think hanging up on someone straight away is probably the best way to dismiss a cold call. I never considered it rude, not like you're abusing the caller like some people do.

If there's any cold callers from Vodafone reading this, please don't call me offering "unlimited broadband", then when I ask if you have a fair usage policy, put me on hold while you go check with your supervisor if you do, then come back telling me there is a limit of around 40gb per month on your "unlimited" broadband :mad::mad:

I just say 'I'm not interested, but thank you for calling' ......unless it's the guys claiming to be from Microsoft wanting to fix my computer. I have a whistle by the phone for them......blow their eardrums out.

I think the "only following orders" defense has been a no-no since the 1940s.
