Grinding Pump Blocked

    Hey all,

We recently moved into a house that has a grinding pump for the small toilet under the stairs. We've been using kitchen roll to flush cat droppings down the toilet and this seems to have blocked the pump. It was running continuously, instead of the few seconds it usually takes, and began to backup into the toilet. I've left it off over night and the level of water in the toilet (about half full) hasn't budged.

Unfortunately, the pump is not directly accessible, so the wall (I assume a stud wall) under the stairs would need to be cut to get access to the pump. We'll probably need to get a plumber, but can anyone advise on whether or not it might be possible to get this fixed without taking the wall apart?

    Thanks!
