Hearing reports of an aer lingus flight making an 'emergency landing' at Chicago O'Hare tonight.
Apparently a nose wheel problem that prevented it from leaving the runway. Eventually towed to gate after 45 mins and passengers disembarked. No injuries.

    Any more info?

EI124 ORD DUB was cancelled Feb 2 due technical reasons

"technical reasons" is a good way of putting it

Technical reasons is the normal term used. It covers so much. If it was a nosegear issue then that is a technical issue.

It's also the way to start unsubstantiated and hyperbolic rumours amongst passengers.

If airlines treated their passengers as better than four-year-olds they might have an easier time handling them.

Just say 'There is a problem with the nose undercarriage. We are working to fix it'.

I am assuming that the quote from goingnowhere was a official answer in relation to the cancellation. I am pretty sure that the pax on board would have gotten the actual sitrep from the Capt at the time, before they got to stand and disembarked.

EDIT: found a link on Chicago news: (my underlining)
    http://abc7chicago.com/news/international-flight-makes-emergency-landing-at-ohare-/501793/

An Aer Lingus plane had trouble with its nose gear after landing at O'Hare Monday evening. The jet sat on the runway for about an hour with emergency crews surrounding it. Eventually, equipment was brought out to the plane and towed the Airbus A330 to its gate.
Passengers on board said they didn't know anything was wrong, until the pilot told them what happened.
The flight came from Dublin, Ireland. No one on board was hurt

Does anybody know if this is the same plane that flew ei125 on Sunday which departed nearly 4 hours late due to being struck on the ground in Dublin. My mate was a passenger & was told delay was due to landing gear needing to be inspected

EI-LAX was the Sunday aircraft, left just under 3 hours late.

EI-LAX was also yesterdays aircraft, left just over 3 and a half hours late

Could be a coincidence of course but that sounds like consequence of Sunday's incident

Thats what EI's website said in flight info when queried

I misread the Avhearald first comment last night and thought the poster was saying you should leave out the Aer bit, I couldn't understand why. Now reading it again I see it says you shouldn't.

Really Lingus is not the airlines name and is never referred to as that, I can understand leaving airlines out of Delta airlines but to call it airlines would just be strange.

OT but looking at the linked picture of the Aerlingus plane in question at Dublin Airport in the glistening sun, they really need to update their livery.

Ah yes, I agree but I just thought it was funny that people were getting all worked up about it, rather than discussing the actual incident.
