Entitlements question.

    Hi folks

    Starting first year of farming.
    Got my green cert and herd number.
    Got my own farm
    can i stack my entilments next year if i take land this year and not next year.

    Starting fresh.
    If you get entitlements from the reserve you cannot stack or sell them.
    I think this is the last year where you can stack, but that's based upon 2014 entitlements & 2013/2015 area base, as you're only starting this does apply to you.
    Also if you farm lesser area next year then you will only have entitlement for the lesser area, with the difference returning to the reserve

    Whats entiltments do i get ?

    Mary, you have great enthusiasm & I wish you well with your farming future.
    I think you're best visit your local Ag advisor, as there is potential for GLAS & the new BTAP

    i am new to farming

    if i farm 90 ha. how many cattle do i need to keep and for how long ?

    if i take land and dont put cattle on it, only horses will i be ok for payments ?

    Mary, you really need to take Farrell's advice.. Your local AG advisor is your first port of call, while you will get lots of good well meaning advice in this forum some of it will conflict with others and maybe cause confusion..nobody here knows your own particular circumstances and this is where your advisor comes in...best of luck anyway..
