Frugal Living

In these times its getting harder and harder to save up a bit of cash for all the little luxuries in life like double ply toilet paper or soap for example, if only there was a way of cutting all those unnecessary costs

Now with that, I think it'd be beneficial to share our own little cost saving measures amongst ourselves in an effort to save up and live a little like buying that Farmers Journal of a Tuesday or maybe even buying name brand tea bags.

I'll start us off, occasionally I run a bath for myself as a treat but with the cost of heating water as astronomical as it is I've developed a method of heating the bath on the cheap by turning the cold tap on, hopping in and then gently placing the toaster in with me. Heats the bath up in about 40 minutes.

    What about you?

I don't want to live off the dampness on the window sill and eat tree branches for the rest of my life.

I'm talking about frugal living for normal people

Nights/days like these I switch of fridge freezer and leave the food out the back in the shed.

Since when are bog roll and soap luxuries, I taught they were everyday essentials

Four slices AND a full bowl of cereal?!

You gut, I feed a family of four off similar amounts of food for nearly a week.

Yes, times are still hard alright but by shopping around you can make your money go that bit further. For instance, I've recently switched from Colombian to Ecuadorian cocaine & use Filipino instead of Thai hookers. Almost as good in both cases & a lot cheaper.

Save money on expensive car fresheners a by keeping your Christmas tree in the back seat. Pine fresh everyday.

I'm not rubbing myself up against a wilting, rejected, mangy Christmas tree! Bleedin' bang of tree sap off me!

    State of it.

Save the cost of expensive crowns and implants by talking to people through the side of your mouth.

We all pack into the car and drive closely behind a Bus Eireann coach all evening, cogging off their free wi-fi. No fancy data package bills for us! And with the car heater turned right up, we are saving a fortune on home-heating. The eldest son is learning to drive so he is also getting plenty of driving experience on the cheap too although he reckons it's hard to really focus on the driving skills and Facebook at the same time, but he is getting better. Tripple win.

Wd40 has loads of common, handy uses around the home. Also, as a substitute for expensive lubricants for intercourse, comes with a handy precision nozzle for those hard to reach places too

Kill the family. No children to treat you like an ATM, no wife buying crap and the state will provide you with 3 meals a day an a playstation.

You could pop into Boots or the like on your way out, head for the aftershave section and drown yourself in something sexy and expensive. Then the bitches will think you're rich and they'll put out.

Sit on park benches instead of paying for expensive household chairs. If a park bench isn't available, use a kerb or a tree stump instead.

Viz used to do these so plagiarising half remembered ones.

Impress your friends without having to fork out for a car with central locking. Simply leave the doors and boot open all the time and say beep beep as you walk up to it.

Don't spend money on expensive MP3 players. Just think of a song and hum it to yourself. To shuffle think of a random song.

Save money on batteries by only putting them into your clock when you wish to know the time.

Don't buy expensive 'ribbed' condoms, just buy an ordinary one and slip a handful of frozen peas inside it before you put it on.

Manchester United fans. Save money on expensive new kits by simply strapping a large fake penis to your forehead. It is now clear to all, as to your allegiance.

2-ply toilet paper is where it starts, the likes of Anglo-Irish is where it ends up.

Can't actually decide if there's a bang of Viz off loads of the suggestions in the thread or just that they should be in Viz :)

You can get pretty ****-faced for two nights with a 0.7l bottle of Lidl-brand vodka for €13.99. If it's a bit too strong try adding double strength squash. :pac:

It can also double as an anesthesia if you need dental work while drinking it.

    What am I thinking?
Anyone drinking Lidl brand vodka has no teeth!

Washing condoms out after use and hanging them back on the line for future use, might want a splash of bleach to ensure they're kosher

Remember to heat yourself not the room (all that cold air is expensive to warm) - so wrap yourself in copies of the Sindo from the bin and set light to them.

As said before Tesco/Aldi vodka in 750nl sports bottle with 50ml of squash to mix sorted for the day. Drink in park lots of people around good buzz but forget about hitting the nightclubs later with the smell of booze.

Particularly lucrative if vaginal steaming (as endorsed by Gwyneth Paltrow) could be worked in there somewhere too.

Nah, if certain foreign countries don't use bog roll and just have a shower hose on the side of the loo, then it's quite good enough for us too...
