    Hi Guys
Im only starting to cycle I'm collecting bike tomorrow and I haven't rode in 20 years..I'm a good bit over weight 24 stone to be exact and I can't seem to find a training plan to build me up. I want to be able to join a club and go on the long cycles with them.

Don't worry about plans. Get out and cycle. See where the roads lead you. I'm cycling years I don't have any plans.

Perhaps Plan to cycle a bit longer and further each time you go out.

Hi Cruiser and welcome on Boards.

As said above, forget about plans. Just get on the bike and ride it. Take a rest when you feel tired.
If commuting to work is an option, this would be a perfect way of managing your time.

If there's a short local circuit you can plan, give it a go. Do it a few times - maybe head out a couple of times a week to start with - you hopefully will find you can go a bit faster. Then extend it - go a bit further again seeing if you can pick up speed after a few goes.

You may then start feeling a bit more comfortable and head out for even longer spins. Hopefully you will start shedding a few pounds at the same time, but you will have to take a look at your diet if you want to make some real inroads on that front - I started out at over 125kg, did one commute a week (round trip was 46km or so), then started doing it twice and then 3 times a week, picking up the speed. Dropped around 25kg wihin a few months but did cut out a hell of a lot of crappy food. Over the next year or so I dropped another 10kg.

Finding a local club is a good idea, but you may be better off heading off on your own or with someone of similar standard until you feel as if you have built up a bit of base. It does depend on the club as well, and what regular spins they do. However there's no reason you shouldn't be holding your own in some of the leisure spins with a bit of dedication over the next few months
