I'm selling a Bakfiets (long), capable of carrying three children up to about the age of seven or eight. I imported it in Spring 2009 from dutchbike.co.uk and it's specced as per the seven speed long version in this link. I have made two small adjustments to the original spec: I replaced the original rear tire and switched the original 20 tooth rear cog for a 21 tooth version. (I have retained the original should a buyer wish to lower the gearing and I also have an unused 22 tooth version if someone is looking for an even higher gearing.)

The bike is in good condition. I have treated it well and serviced it myself, including total overhauls of the hub gears. It has been stored indoors since the day it was bought (although given that it is made in Holland where houses are often narrow, it is designed to be stored outdoors). The rain canopy does look worn but this is purely aesthetic: it still performs its basic function of protecting the kids from the wind and rain admirably.

The sale will include the following accessories in addition to the rain canopy: rain cover, second child bench, Axa wheel lock and extension chain for same. The bike is fitted with a fantastically bright front wheel dynamo LED light.

I purchased it in 2009 for £UK1850 (inc. all the bits). The same retailer is now now selling it for £UK2043. Bear cycles also sell a more or less identical bike in Dublin but the price is no longer obvious (at least to me) on their website. When I last checked with them (in 2012) they were charging €1990 for the bike and accessories combined. I've set my asking price at half of this (lower) price, i.e. €1000.

I recognise that this is not necessarily a bike that everyone will be familiar with so I will facilitate test rides where possible. (I'm based in the Clontarf area in Dublin). There are loads of photos on the links above of the generic bike but I've attached the only photo I have to hand of my own bike on Dollymount strand.

Finally: yes, it is yellow. I've found this to be a good thing.

I assume the bike is sold?

No - still available. I had begun to consider simply hanging onto it and using it as a straight cargobike (rather than for the kids as hitherto) but if you're interested I'm happy to let you take a look.

Final price drop: €900. If there's no interest at that price I think I'll hang on this as a cargobike (in the sense of moving cargo rather than kids).

    Hello,
Just wondering if you ever sold this? Looking for something to transport 3 kids and came across your post, thought I'd chance asking even though you posted this thread 2 years ago!
    Thanks in advance!

Long ago sold, I'm afraid. Indeed, it's replacement, a Thorn Me 'n' U2 is about to go on the market.
