The garden in question is about ten metres by six metres.

Around 1/3 of the garden has no grass, there were Leylandii trees to about 2 metres from the wall. We had those removed and there is just the debris from the Leylandii....loose chips and bits of foliage.

The grassy part in the centre, about 2/3 of the garden, has a lot of moss and is a bit uneven.

    Question:

I will be planting grass where the Leylandii were anyway.....

Should I rotavate the grassy part of the garden, smoothen it and plant new grass

    or

try to get rid of the moss and restore the grass that's there....

What I don't want is a garden that's out of bounds for the entire summer while we wait for new grass to grow.

    Ta.
