Thule Raceway 992 - where to buy?

    Morning all,

Attended my first sportive yesterday with a friend. I don't have a bike rack, so we dropped the wheels out of both bikes and packed everything as carefully into the back of a small Mazda hatchback as carefully as we could, making good use of two pairs of old curtains as packing/covers.

This is a slightly dirty job to have to do before and after an event and I hope to attend more such events this year. I'd also like to have the back seat and boot available, so I've decided to get a bike rack. I've decided to go for one that carries three bikes, so I can carry a third bike if another friend decides to tag along. I took a look at the Thule website and the Thule Raceway 992 seems to suit the task. Did a quick search online and Halfords, Amazon and one other place that I can't recall right now (CRC, Wiggle and bike24 didn't do them) stock them for approximately €335.

Can this rack be got for less than that? If so, does anyone have a recommendation? Will pop into my LBS at the weekend to check if he does them or not. I don't recall seeing them there before, but my attention was generally focused on bikes.

Nevermind, despite the manufacturer's website, this rack won't actually fit my car. If I want to transport a bike or bikes properly, I'll have to get roof bars and the rest.

    Have you a towbar?
I have a thule towbar rack and its the biz...really light...on and off in seconds and its rock solid.
Got it on halfords for €80 i think...its a 2 bike rack but i think there are 3 bike rack versions.
If you dont have a towbar it might work out cheaper(and more convenient) to get one.

    Marty.
