    Hi guys

Live in an apartment on the first floor with gas heating. All the rads work except the rad in the middle room (single room). It worked when it was last in use in November, it was turned off in December and turn on again last night. There is no heat in the rad at all, tried bleeding it and still no luck. Any ideas? any one recommend a plumber in the D18 area.

Turn off all the rads that are working. Make sure the rad that's not working is definitely turned on both sides. Turn on heating for 20 mins.

Is there a thermostatic valve on the radiator?

I've seen more than a few where if the valve is closed to turn the radiator off for a while, then left closed for a while, and then turned on again, the small plunger rod that operates the diaphragm in the valve sticks in the closed position.

To fix, unscrew the thermostat head, (usually a chrome plated nut just below the adjuster head) and lift it off ( it will take very little effort to remove it, if it won't move, then there's something wrong) and then carefully with a pair of pliers or similar, press on the end of the small plunger pin that should now be visible in the middle of the top of the valve that is now revealed, and see if it moves in or not, and if it then moves out when you release the pressure on it.

If it doesn't move, very carefully, pull it out a few (<5) millimetres with the pliers, then try pushing it in again, and see if it moves and frees up and moves when released.

It should move in and out by a small distance, (usually less than 5mm), and if it's stuck in the closed position, the radiator won't heat up, even if it's the only one in the place that's on, as there's usually not enough pressure from the pump to force it open again.

If the pin is still sticking, try moving it with the pliers a few times, they usually free up without too much trouble.

Once the pin moves freely, the valve head can be put back on again, and all should be OK again until next time.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Once it's fully warm, turn the rest back on and all should be ok

Sorry again lads. We turn off all the rads and left on the one causing the problem, when it got warm we started turning on the other rads and then the single one started to get cold again :-( is it the water pressure and if so how do we fixed it or do we need a plumber.
