Hi all, bought an E90 last week and the bonet has quite a bit of 'road rash' on it which is quite noticeable as the car is blue. Any opinions on the Dr colour chips kit for something like this? Its only noticeable from about 5 feet away but there are quite a few little chips.

    Anyone at all?

Thinking of using their UK website http://www.drcolourchip.co.uk/

They're never as good as they make out to be. A lot less heart ache in getting it professionally done.

I know some of them are not great, but is this one not ment to be a little better than most?

Have dug this out of the archives for you :D

Its a really good kit, covers up a multitude of sins. I found that using it to cover rash didn't last as long as filling individual chips. Theres also the issue that you can still see indentations in the panel which is slightly annoying. Looked far better after it was done - its also easy enough to re-apply if its not lasting long enough for you.

I ended up having the front bumper resprayed though in the end - rear quarters were fine and didn't need paint though.

Thanks, how long did it last for the rash?

I read somewhere that some people had got years out of it and even claybared they car and still did not affect the finish?

I'd rather not spray the entire bonnet I'd imagine that could get very expensive..

Looked perfect for at least 12 months - hard to tell if new road rash occured, or if the paint came off though. Still looked fine when I sold it last year - which is at least 3/4 years on.

Cheers, I'd say I'll chance it and see how I get on :)

Tried it but to be honest I wanted perfect finish so I ended up respiring it professionally. Yes it was more expensive but the satisfaction is not comparable :)

Well I bit the bullet and got the kit.

I've done about half the bonnet so far and the results are impressive. Pretty happy with the product considering its cost and how easy it is to apply.
