No research gone in here bar I recently read a stat saying people who use Facebook are generally 10% more depressed than people who don't.

I understand that is a crude way of expressing that but after some discussion with friends -

What percentage of drop in productivity (work/school/etc) has Facebook had on demographics that its popular.??

    Just a thought

I don't have a Facebook account and I've never had one. So it has absolutely zero impact on my life.

Probably depressed as people can be so fake on facebook. If you are comparing yourself to others on facebook and looking for validation of yourself, you can be sorely disappointed

I'm glad I'm able to have a Facebook account and not let it destroy my life (because it really is down to the individual, there are enough settings on it to ensure that) the way those who are afraid to have a Facebook account seem.

Don't have any impact on my life but it's handy to snoop on others ...

Facebook is a complete waste of bloody time and CPU cycles and anyone over the age of 18 who bothers with it is a fcukan fool.

At weekends i wait for female work colleagues to upload pictures of nights out. Sometimes there is a gem of an upskirt or nipple slip pic. I furiously masturbate over these.

Facebook has a positive impact on my life:cool:

If someone wants to waste their time at work they will find a way, facebooking or otherwise.

I am guessing the statistic you have quoted in your first sentence has been generated by someone who wanted that answer. I can guarantee you I could selectively survey and prove the opposite also.

I think people over exaggerate the impact of facebook, twitter etc. They are just things that can be useful, a bit of fun and sometimes pointless but have no great societal impact bar being another way that info gets passed around.

I have a facebook account that's used for chatting with my wife during the day, and occasionally browsing through when bored (maybe once a week or so). It has had zero effect on me because I understand what social media is, how it works, how far reaching content placed up on there can be, and i know how to manage my online footprint

If done properly, allowing people to spend time on the likes of Facebook actually increases productivity in certain jobs

If you're not a total fool, you can use it without it having any kind of negative impact in your life. Such moaning! Delete it then, ffs and stop going on about it once you do PLEASE! *Smiley face*

    Exacto.

If they delete it though, they'll be going on insufferably about how their life is so much better, which begs the question: how on earth was life made so bad by a fecking social media platform. Maybe it's an age thing - I'll be honest, I'd hate to be under 25 (at least) now. What on earth is the point of that Chapsnat thing?!
Everyone has complete control over their Facebook profile and what the see on their newsfeed.
