Can I just ask a question about a warning light that has come on please.

My car is a 06 octavia 1.4 petrol. Today whilst driving a warning light came on, which when checked is the control system for exhaust gases. The car is booked in for servicing etc on Thursday, but I was wondering if it is safe to drive in the meantime?

It is better to be safe than sorry. In the first instance I would suggest checking your owners manual. I'd also suggest you call the mechanic/garage and check with them. Failing that, you might also want to check whether there are any motor forums associated with the manufacturer. There are some dedicated forums that will give you better advice than here.

Thanks managed to get it to a mechanic friend. The coil has gone, not sure what that's going to cost, but I've left it with him. Bread and water for the month:(

Coils are cheap and easy to do, shouldnt cost much more than €100.
