Toast drinks

    Hi all,

Trying to decide if our budget will allow for toast drinks or not. Can anyone suggest an estimate for toast drinks for 130-150 guests? I know it's impossible to pin down but maybe someone has experience with this?

I've been to weddings where some have provided it and some haven't. I never thought it was bad not to provide it but I really loved when they did. I'd love to be able to provide one for my guests. Do people think it looks mean not to provide a toast drink?

We have procecco on arrival and wine with a top up during the meal but I would like to do our speeches before the meal and am therefore thinking it would be nice to provide a toast drink for our guests too.

Totally personal whether you include it or not. I don't think its mean not to provide it - I've seen that some people instead of providing a toast drink, use that money to put into the drinks reception instead.. so people have more free booze then, or have a choice or whatever. Honestly by the time the toast comes around, I've usually had so much booze I hardly notice! To answer your question on cost - totally depends - but I'd say on average about 6 Euro per person - at least in places I've seen.

I think we allowed around 6-7 per person - just took an average of typical drinks. Not necessary though especially since you're already providing drinks and wine. Could you time it so that the wine is used as a toast? We skipped prosecco at drinks reception in favour of toast as budget wouldn't allow both. It's a fair number if guests you have and it clocks up!

Our hotel estimated toast drink at 5 euro per person.

We provided the toast drink but our speeches were at the end of the meal. I think a lot of people just stuck with their wine for the toast. It was a last minute addition for us and I certainly wouldn't have felt bad about not providing it.

Our hotel quoted 2.50 for prosecco or 5 euro choice of drink. We have a prosecco reception and wine with dinner, so depending on how the budget goes it might be left out.

Ours were €5.50 per person, for the drink of their choice. It worked out the same as giving them a glass of bubbly, so we just went with letting them choose.

Thanks so much for all the feedback. I think I'll speak with the hotel to see if they can off any set price for a drink of choice and have a look at the budget again.

Sometimes it works out cheaper to have a top up of wine for the toast

Would think just offer a glass of bubbly for the speeches.. thinking of all the weddings we have been to lately we just had wine like that we were drinking it anyway so why change.. One wedding gave some craft beers to each person which was nice

We managed to get our venue to include a glass of proseco for the toast, in our overall package.

We have a proseco & bottled beer for guests upon arrival, half bottle of wine per person with the meal, glass of proseco for the toast with a top up available depending on how much gets used in the first pour, I think speechs will be after the meal.

Are you allowed supply your own bottled beer. Seen this at a wedding last year and i like the idea.

To be honest any wedding I was at just topped up wine at the toast time. I think that it is an expense that you could do without. Mind you any wedding I was at had the speeches after the meal. (I think having the speeches at the end of the meal is a great idea).

We haven't asked tbh, Id be surprised if they allowed it though. I made the point when we were viewing places that I never have proseco when at weddings, likewise most of my male friends so they agreed to give us some bottles of beer as well as the proseco.
