I was thinking of buying second hand scaffolding for a self build. It makes sense compared to the cost of hire. Is there an adequate resale value? Or has that changed due to new building regulations?

It wouldnt really make sense. Scaffolding now has to be erected and certified by a person who holds a scaffolding CSCS card. Im seeing more and more main contractors that wont even deal with scoffolding themselves anymore and subbing it out to specialists. They will provide, erect and certify the scaffolding for you for an all-in price.

If you are using your own scaffolding, you will still have to get someone with the relevant ticket to erect and certify it. They mightn't necessarily be happy with the quality of the scaffolding that you have bought.

Do you know anything about the resale value?

Its on the up at the minute...I did a deal with a scaffolder, I bought 80% of mine off him and he has first dibs on buy back when im finished.

Self build its still best option than hiring....Id say ive saved anywhere between 3-5k on hiring.

You may lose out 300-400 euro from what you bought it but that's it....
