    Hi all,

Apologies if this has been posted on another thread, I’ve done some routing and can’t find anything.

Is there anyone other than TV3 going to be broadcasting the RWC this year?

Whilst I enjoyed some of their punditry during the last WC, I watched all the games on Setanta because of the HD broadcast. Given that TV3 don’t have a HD option (despite constantly bleating on about their ‘HD Studio’, and broadcasting in SD), is there another HD channel going to be showing it? E.g. UTV Ireland HD? BBC?

I have a full Sky package with BT Sport/Sentanta etc,

I do not have the respective sheckles necessary to venture over and see the games.

    Cheers
    TB

I don't have HD (apart from BT), so don't much care, but I think it would be very poor if HD coverage were not available in Ireland.

AFAIK you can tune ITV HD into your other channels on a Sky box.
    More information over here.

Yeah, but with some of the kick off times clashing with the commute home, school run, making dinner etc it's impossible to set it to record or pause while you leggit it out to do what you need before catching up when you get home.

Picture quality on TV3 is undeniably shoite.

A free to air channel cannot be geoblocked. However, for cable viewers in the Republic, UTV NI is no longer available, and the version of ITV4 on cable (but not satellite) has all sports programmes blocked.

TV3 will, apparently, launch a HD service in time for the RWC

They announced a HD package in 2013 if I remember correctly, which was delayed, but hopefully it will launch in time.

Yeah, I read the announcement at the time, I'm not confident that it will happen though.
