    Not sure if this is the right place to post this query...Just wondering where I can find a Car Depreciation Calculator for BMW cars for motor insurance reasons..

    No such thing. Taking an average of asking prices is about as close as you can get and even then that doesn't account for discounts etc.

    EDIT - if you know someone in the trade that could give you approx book values it might work?

    Look up the Original Market Selling Price of the model on the VRT calculator site.

    Madness really and people worry about the cost of petrol V's diesel. A 25k car will loose 5 in year one a 50k car 10. The difference in cost between a tank of diesel and petrol and the mpg difference makes precisely no difference at all.

    Dealers are always very secretive about book values. I traded in recently, and I could see them looking up Carzone to check the value of my car. I had done that myself, and the trade in I got was pretty close.
