New boiler? Grant?

Hi all, for the last year or so my boiler (Ideal, 2005) has played up. I've had to replace the PCB, now the pump has seized. I've been told by the plumber that while I could replace it for about €350, he recommends a new, better boiler, region of €2000.
Nothing was mentioned to me about the SEAI Grant. My house was build pre-2006.
I noticed that the grants are only eligible with certain contractors. I've read the SEAI website.
I'm looking for advice as to how I should choose the boiler I want and the contractor I use. Should I find the contractor first, then let them advise me? Or research the boiler I want, buy it and then ask around for prices?

I assume I can trust the plumber who advised me not to replace the pump and just get a new boiler, but he didn't mention the grant so I also assume he isn't one of the registered contractors for the grant.

    Any thoughts/advice?

Research your boiler first get a few written quotes then and ask the plumber that boiler they recommend and then research it.a good plumber will recommend a good boiler

If your interested in a grant aided job it will cost more than €2k it would be in the region of €2500 as you have to have 2 timed zones, trvs, room stat, cylinder stat, immersion timer etc. so There is a lot more work involved.
Go onto the Seai website input your location and you will get a list of installers there call a few and get quotes

I've heard that getting a boiler above the spec is a good idea. Not getting an "average" one.

I can't recommend one myself but I would like a recommendation myself so I will jump on board this thread of I may ......
