I have 2 cows that calved to different bulls. Calves got mixed up so not sure which is which.

Need to find out before registering them. Any ideas?? Can't take the chance as will be breeding from them in future.

    Are the mothers related?

    Not closely.

Wetherbys would test one cow and one calf. Cost of test is 30 euro each.

Anyone else doing that type of testing? Kicking myself that I didn't pay closer attention to them calving. Will be €60 lighter as a result of my mistake!

Would you not know by letting the calves back with the cows ??

Ya could try the ai company they would only need to test the calf and compare it to the bulls

Would you not have a keen enough eye to spot which looked like which mother :D

If the mothers were still around would they not go straight to their calf?

Not so easy unfortunately. One is a first calver who in her enthusiasm shoved her calf under a gate when licking the calf.

The other believes that she is the proud mother of twins as she spent the night with both of them!

are the calves Pedigree... if ped right thing is wetherby's, if not ped I would not be too worried as lots of farmers fill in incorrect sires into ICBF or no sire at all

We'd that years ago, 2 simmental first calvers (1 red & 1black), had red limousine heifers.
Ended up putting all in the 1 pen for a few day's & they sorted themselves
