Had air/fuel/oil filter change on a 1.4 TDCi Fiesta Van yesterday. Travelled round trip of 90 miles with it last night without issue. Went to start it earlier and it seems to turn over fine - as normal. However, there is no sign of it firing up.

I'm sure most likely the two things are unrelated - but just wanted to check if there's anything that could have gone wrong with the fuel filter change that could be responsible for this?

Have you checked the fuses? Perhaps the fuel pump isn't pumping....

And I presume there isn't a massive leak of petrol beneath the car!?

    Will check that now..

    It's diesel - but no.

It might be the fuel filter change that affected the engine. Probably an air lock.

Sounds air has gotten into the fuel lines....check connections on the fuel filter and if there o.k. remove the airfilter box and follow the flow/return hoses going to the fuel filter housing.
I've seen on the 206's (same engine) they hoses rub off the bottom of the airbox and (righthand side looking at engine) wear tru allowing air to be pulled in.....Worth a look.

If it's anything like the 1.6, the fuel filter has to be filled with diesel before its reconnected to minimise any air gaps as there is a large volume in the filters.

One option I head of but never witnessed is a tow until start. Basically driving with the ignition on and in gear and let the fuel pump keep working until all air is expelled through the injectors

Looks like you were right on the money. Airlock related to swapping out the fuel filter.
