    Guys,

Any one of you use starmaxx/petlas tyres for a tractor. How did you find them and are you using them long?

    Cheers

Had star maxx on old case only last 2 yrs. Doing 1000hrs yr mostly on concrete stacking bales cleaning yards feeding and all that.
They are cheaper but don't last as long.
Firestone on new tractor now. 900hrs since April she travels 5 mile to out farm 2/3 tines a week and does all yard work
Wouldn't be overly happy with how there wearing tbh

ok Greengrass1 thanks for that. You don't seem overly happy with firestone either. Wonder is there any make that would be ok money that would last a good while?

Barum tyres 16.9 x 34 here on MF 390T for the last 10 years. Aprox 3500 hours done, equivalent to aprox 5000 hours on modern clocks, mostly road & yard work, still 50% grip left, no sign of any perishing. Very happy with them, no idea on price though

I had firestones on before and the minute the hit 50% grip they became hopeless to grip. wouldn't dig in at all. were fast enough to wear to that stage as well. I think its hard to beat the good years. they still grip very well when tread is down. I have seen good years that are over 20 years old and the side walls are like new, no perishing at all. id say for a budget tyre its hard to beat the agrimax as well.

+1 on the Agrimax. Have them on the 398 and they are wearing ok. On about 5 years now and about 60% left but they aren't too bad on the wallet

Would have to agree on the good years, a lot don't like them but we've got on grand, had 7200hrs on last tractor and she was just getting to bout 10% on original rears, fronts were near gone around 5k, then a tree stump claimed one and the agrimax replacements near walked off. Current yoke had about 10% gone off good years after 2000hrs, but that would include a fair share of road work really, certainly wouldn't be complaining.

    Another vote for Goodyear here,

have a '00 with 9K hours on originals have done a fair bit of road with slurry & double bale lifter, rears are about 60% good, fronts about 40%,

plenty of grip, some slight cracks but should be (hopefully) good for sometime yet.

guys, cheers for the suggestions. I take it Continental, Agrimax and Goodyear would be the way to go. One make that came from a fitter was Vredestein. Has anyone any experience of these?

On the wider versions of vrederstiens they have a really long lug, suppose to reduce wear on the road and also to help self clean. Not sure if it's the same on narrower tires. Think there a good enough tire to

Has anyone any experience good or bad of Galaxy brand tractor tyres?
