Blackpool airport now closed. Fly to Manchester and train from the airport to Blackpool.

    Thanks, that explains it!

I flew in to there a few years ago and it was very convenient. Manchester less so.

Liverpool is also nearby with direct trains from the city to Blackpool. Blackpool airport was a dive. No money was ever put back into the place.

Blackpool airport is closed? GREAT! I flew in for a weekend with Aerlingus regional (stobart air). Flight was fine, quite reasonable. Airport itself was disgusting. Corridors made up o marine ply mounted vertically, with cobwebs. Spent longer in a queue trying to get past immigration than the flight from Dublin.

I went looking to buy phone credit for my UK mobile. All that was available in the general terminal was two vending machines for drinks and crisps. It was the worst, dirtiest kip I was ever in. On the return, there was a few facilities airside for people flying out, but have to say, third world africa would be better than that place.

The only good thing about it, was the Southport airshow was on that weekend and some of the planes - lancaster bombers, typoon jets, etc etc were there for us to see and watch takeoff.

Agree about getting train from liverpool. I did it for my stags. Dublin - Liverpool flight, then train to Blackpool.

How long would the train take? From Liverpool and Manchester.

Liverpool requires a bus from Airport to Liverpool South Parkway (Closest station) or Liverpool city centre for Lime Street station.

Manchester Airport has it's own rail station, 5 min walk from Terminal 1 (Aer Lingus) 15 min from T3 (Ryanair).
