Deal or No Deal

Has to be one of the worst TV shows ever. A show about opening boxes which they manage to drag out for a whole hour. Now in reality the show could be over in about 2 minutes, but we have to listen to some belle*d telling everyone about how he lost his teddy bear when he was 5 and has never got over it. And don't get me started on that bearded t*at!!!!!!

Why do people watch this crap

I enjoy it when the top three are opened early. Kills the game completely. The faux psychology is amusing.

I've always wondered about this. Never watched it, but heard it talked about. Is there any skill at all involved or anything, or is it just blind luck?

I haven't watched it in years but when it first came on and everyone seemed to be watching it (well I was in college at the time) it always struck me how they seemed to seek out really odd people. It's hard to explain but hopefully I wasn't three only one who noticed.

Edit: there is a certain amount of "skill" when it gets down to the last 11 boxes or less cause you start to get offers that can drastically change in the next three boxes. Before that it really is pure ****e

When I was a child, all I had for entertainment were boxes. I remember fondly the day we got a fridge, because it was in a big box, which transformed into a space shuttle for me.

I was 7 and the world was my oyster.

I often ponder this as I come across it.

How the feck is it still on daily after all these years.

The walking around and behaviour of the contestants really irks me.
You're randomly opening boxes ffs stop acting like you're doing anything different.

Even the contestants with the boxes seem to have far too much interest in how the current player does.

The only skill is having enough good judgement to know when to accept an offer - basically if you have a very good opening round (all blue or 4 blue and 1 lowish red) you'll be offered around 8-12K so you'd be an idiot not to take it. The producer will hate you but so what?!

Fifteen to One and Countdown are the only things that should be on Channel Four in the early evenings. Ever.

Noel's House Party. That was a laugh.

People staring blankly at boxes while contemplating the rest of their lives. Not a laugh.

A lot of contestants seem to be gullible innocent types or complete eccentrics. I hate the way Noel tries to make a story out of every game when it really is blind luck combined with a test of judgement.

They house the contestants together in a hostel until it's their time to play. It's like they try to create a rapport amongst the group so when the show is being filmed, they fawn over each other.

The one thing I find hard to believe is: when Noel goes off on a monologue explaining how much money they just lost, and how they were going to help their family with that money, how come nobody tells him to STFU, or punch him in the face?

If you are a woman you seems to have a much better chance of winning the 250,000, if you are a man you look like joining the 1p club.

People who like it I guess. What annoys me more is the people that watch it even though they don't like it.

I used to watch it years ago but got sick of it. I thought it was kind of funny how they would talk about how they planned to play the game as if there was any skill involved. Or how they would ask the person opening the box to make it a low amount as if they had any choice.

I always wanted to see someone be honest and just say "I have no idea what's in the box so don't ask me if I have a good feeling about it or blame me if it goes wrong". I really wanted to see them tell Noel Edmonds to piss off when he blamed them for what was in the box.

If the quarter of a million is still in play and Noel starts saying anything along the lines of you must not find it in the next box or two you know the contestant will find it.

I think Deal or No Deal without Noel Edmonds would be utter horse shit.

I think it should be called "Deal or Noel's deal"

Saw the show a few times. Thought it was crap.
Then I played the game on Paddy Power and lost my bollox.
I hate Deal or No Deal.

Pfft, thought it was common knowledge that the winning formula is

    13
    1
    4
    No Deal
    9
    15
    16
    No Deal
    2
    10
    3
    No Deal
    8
    12
    14
    No Deal
    21
    5
    18
Oh, I don't know, I'm so tempted. I could do a lot with that kind of money. But no, I came to play the game so, go on, ask me. No Deal.
    20
    6
    23
    No Deal
    7
    11
    19
    Yes please, Swap.

Swap your box (22) with the remaining box (17) and there you go, quarter mil in Box 17.

A few years back Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was a good game show until they started the "celebrity" tat. Don't think that is on any more though.

Deal or no Deal appeals to a certain type of person and it's obvious which given it's time slot (welfare dependent, unemployable and not the brightest).

On the other hand (or extreme if you like) anyone seen that game show "Only Connect" (I think it's called) on BBC 2!? That takes some endurance as well but for different reasons.

Does anyone else find a very bizarre, creepy type of atmosphere about the show?

It's almost like looking at a cult.
