Turbo Trainer best value

HI,

Prob been asked 1,000 times but I'm looking for one of these for my smallish front room. I don't do a whole lot of cycling as I can't really get out as often as I would like (single dad, kid is too young to be left alone), but I want to keep in decent cycling shape for duathalons etc.

What should I be paying for a decent entry level one of these? I see price ranges from 150 to 1,000 and I is confused.

I have a Specialized Allez Sport 2013 model, with no extras or mods.

lower end of the price spectrum but sturdy, and all you want starting out. easy to set up and pack down. been using mine for 2 years every winter and it worth the money

with that trainer you'll get the unit (with a tiny amount of assembly) and a trainer specifc skewer for your rear wheel. (i leave mine in my turbo/winter bike all year round).

the only thing id advise getting is a wheel block for your front wheel, you could use a a phone-book but it becomes a pain in the arse, plus you'll destroy the phone book with sweat.

I have that tax above its a solid bit of kit but noisy enough if you're looking for something quiet.

I don't know what this means? Do I have to take the something out of my wheel to fit into the trainer?

You need need a specific skewer for a turbo trainer. It allows the clamp cups to hold the studs on the end of the skewer. A standard and skewer would not have these.

yeah, you would most likely have a quick release bar that runs through your rear wheel hub. all trainers (id imagine) will come with a replacement skewer that looks like this. its designed to fit nicely with the contact points of your trainer.

I was looking for something quite as my kid will be mostly in bed, trying to get to sleep, so dont really want noisy.

Works well, easy to put together and use. Got a wheel block too for just over 100€, so happy with that.

Wondering which digital wireless computer to use with ti now. I'd obv have to put the magnet on the back wheel but will any cheap wireless device
but up RF (not sure if that's what's used) for a device on the handle bars?

Suggestions welcome.
