Country Membership

    Hi folks
Bit confused about country membership. I have had it for the last few years as i have been in college and it allowed me to play the opens when i had time (which wasn't very often).
Now I was going to do the same again this year as i have only started work and had a baby a few weeks ago.
Friends are saying that the rules have now changed and I will be restricted in playing opens due to some new rules ??

Anyone able to shed any light on this ?

    Thanks

Ask your club. I was told that they "didn't expect me to play in many big competitions" but they weren't excluding me.

There's a massive thread on this if you search. Personally, I think it will be up to each club to enforce (not all have on-line access for a start) and can't see too many clubs turning open money away, time will tell.

Actually does that mean if I change clubs, I can't play in opens until next year?

Exactly what I was thinking ? not sure how it would work. I could change clubs now and play 3 qualifying rounds, obtain new GUI number but I would not be eligible to play in opens. Clubs don't offer student memberships for mature students so in a way they are forcing country membership but don't want you doing it ???

    Crazy if it's enforced.
