I have 80PC signal strength and 60PC signal quality but no pictures. What is the minimum needed to get channels. There are some trees that may be in line but can be cut if necessary.

The minimum would be to point the dish at the correct satellite.

It would also help the chances of getting a useful answer if you increased the minimal amount of information you gave in your posts.

I am using an old skybox set to services/setup/signal test.
Pointed at astra2 I get the above percentages on signal strength and quality.
To get an acceptable picture would I need 90% plus?

The signal you are getting is more than enough. If it is a recorder box are both of the signals ,ocked? You could try a planner rebuild.

    It's a Pace 1.0.55 non recorder.

I am getting error 29..no satellite signal is being received.

How do I do a planner rebuild?

Are you definite that it's pointed at 28.2? It could be pointed at a different satellite. Have you tried the cable with another skybox?

Not 100% certain. I thought the signal test would only register with a signal from Astra2. Haven't tried another skybox yet.

Im not sure to be honest as I have never tried a sky box on another satellite but I could imagine that it would see it as a satellite and report on signal strength and quality as you describe. As mentioned 80 / 60 should be fine for most channels. Some weaker transponders may break up but in the main it should be fine.

I still think the dish is not pointing at Astra.

What network ID is showing? Should be 0002 if I'm not mistaken.

    Network ID is 013ie.

Add channels has Rui 5, Senato, Rai yoyo. Think these are Italian channels but I couldn't save them as I have no remote control.

As suspected, you need to get your dish aligned to Astra. That ID is 13E - Hotbird.

That's the Hotbird satellites at 13 degrees east. You (obviously) need to point your dish 15 & a bit degrees further east, & lower the elevation about 5 degrees.

Ok, thanks both. Was sure I was on Astra.

    Back up the ladder..:)

    EDIT
Nothing east of this. Pointing at a big fir. Eyesore anyway. Chainsaw out tomorrow.

Found this a bit late but useful info:
