    hi guys i'm thinking of picking up a r9 280

    would this card play games on ultra settings?

    for example battlefield hardline when it releases?

    Looking at this one myself.

    From my investigations it works out at about 200€

    Would bumping upto the r9 290x be worthwhile over this

    If the price is right than obviously, yes, the 290 is a league ahead of the 280. Having said that, the R9 290 non-x is generally much better value than the 290X, which isn't much faster - it's a bit like the GTX970 v. GTX980, huge price difference but small performance margin.

    One you overclock the 290 you have a card as powerful or even more then the 290x

    A 290x would last you a lot longer than a 280 as its much bigger memory bus and ram.
    Having said that and owning a 290x unless you get one at a good price I would just go with a 290 to save money.

    i can get the 290x for about 330 or so good value?

    What model R9 290x is it? I assume that's brand new?

    You can good models of the 290 now for about 270 delivered, they wouldn't be too far off the 290X.
