    Hi all,

    Quick question.........

I advertised a job offer at minimum wages for a new small business.

I received Cv's as normal. But one particular responded :

"Your asking for a lot and only paying 8.65 hope you find a really good person for the job, Fuk you"

With his CV and all his details. While I am sure he is not looking for a job and don't understand why he even bother sending his CV with Details. I wonder if I should let this go or do something.

I am quiet annoyed as I am trying really hard to give a job to someone and getting unnecessary abuse seems to be so easy those days.

    Seb

In such a situation I would always take someone by surprise in a manner in which they will not be expecting, e.g. call him up and proceed to put him under the impression that you are genuinely interested in his application etc, i.e. play with his head to the extent that you will have him thinking that you may have missed his comment somehow in the application, or else are just ignoring it.

What do you have in mind to do? Go round to his house and give him a telling off? Report him to DSP (you might like to think about your data privacy obligations before doing that)?

Is he right - is what you are asking for unrealistic, given that you are only offering minimum wage?

Report him to the DSP?

OP I'm not sure what you're thinking you could do. If it is a bit too little to pay for the job you've advertised, then the frustration and anger is understandable but yeah of course no one deserves abuse. Still not sure what you propose to do. And it to the Guards if you like. Not too many more options.

Personally I would ignore it. Job hunting is very frustrating (I know!) and the person may just be feeling some stress from it all. No excuse I know but I wouldn't pursue it.

Are you asking for too much for min wage op?

Move on, on the scale of abusive behaviour this really is very slight. The person who sent that in felt strongly about something you were doing and articulated it to you, albeit in a less then cordial manner. To suggest ‘doing something’ about it seems a little petty and possibly vindictive. Let it go and get the best person for the job.

Hardly the brightest move to ID himself though by also sharing his real details? Ireland's a pretty tightly knit to be fair ...

Pass his details on to your contacts and warn them against hiring him due to his attitude.

Thats it lets try and make a man unemployable for one stupid act...

Why not? So someone trying to run an SME can hire him only for him to fúck things up with his bad attitude?

This guy is unemployed for a reason, he has no work ethic and complains about having to earn his wage.

OP, just be glad he showed you his true colours and you didn't waste any time on him.

Don't respond to him. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of it.

Maintenance of the working place (moping, bathroom etc...) and customers services, that's all, I even don't ask any qualifications.

    I do for other jobs.

So basically cleaning and janitor work.

To be honest he's living in cloud cuckoo land to expect anything more than minimum wage for that line of work.

    Dodged a bullet there.

    I think,

I am not going to respond, but I am annoyed, emails are just too easy those days.

Thank you all for your input.

That seems like a minimum wage job to me to be fair. I still think you should just move on. He didn't get the job (surprise) that is punishment enough. If he doesn't learn to adopt a more conducive attitude he won't get one. You don't need to bother yourself anymore with him. Going out of your way to somehow damage him though would be crossing the line IMHO.

    Do not do this.
It's clear there's not much going on in it, given his note.

Any further contact, and you may rile this guy and who knows what'll happen.

    Ignore it.
    Move on.

The guy is quite clearly a moron.

I mean if he wants to abuse you via e-mail then that's his choice. But to send in a CV giving away his identity is just laughable. What's going on in his head.

Don't respond. For all you know this guy could be impersonating someone else.

Sounds like a lad that is showing his dole officer he is looking for work.
"Ah, yeah, I applied, but no one seems to hire me........... So, about that continuation of my dole"

    +1
Absolutely nail on the head with that analysis.

I cant think of any other reason to do it... he wants to make sure you dont hire him or more importantly even call him for an interview.... might even possibly be out of the country as a dole tourist which would be uncomfortable for him if you asked him in for an interview..... cant think of a better way to ensure you dont get an interview by saying "fcuk you" in the cover letter.

It might be a step too far but if you think he is claiming dole I think it would not be unreasonable to send that to DSW.

Maybe call him and sound him out and then decide what you think is appropriate.

I can't see any mention from the OP that he was a) unemployed and b) on social welfare, maybe stop jumping to conclusions.

Hang on, it's also a customer services position? Or is it cleaning the customer services area?

To take action on something like this would be petty. Yes, he used the F word, but if you've any maturity at all, you'll have moved on and focused on hiring viable candidates instead of seeking revenge.

Ignore him. Contacting him or blackening his name is of no benefit to you or your company. You got other cvs for the position. Move on.

If you want to get into a war or words or have him land on your doorstep then make contact with him.

The OP has no proof that the details in his application are his real details - or that the details provided are from the person who sent the letter.

And the OP did ask for opinion so I dont think there is anything wrong with offering that opinion. Its a reasonable opinion with the info provided thus far.

Whether the OP wants to draw further ire from this guy is up to him.

OP is hyper sensitive. It doesn't deserve a second thought let alone instigating further contact with the applicant. What have you to gain only the possibility of drawing some one on to you who is either a bit unstable or more likely someone taking the p1ss.

Trivial matter that is not worth a second thought imo.

Locteau I would just leave it. I'm not excusing the behaviour but do you know how many times employers have ignored me after interview, not got in touch when they said they would, sent the wrong info been overly aggressive and dismissive in interviews? This person sounds like they are either trolling / have a bad attitude.

Grow a thick skin and move on.

I would agree with you there Mrs, I can't imagine someone would be that daft as to abuse someone over the wages offered for a simple enough job. Could be someone taking the píss or someone genuinely angry with low paying roles and using this opportunity to take out their frustration out on the OP.

However, what I will say is, it's time to develop a thick skin and consign the CV to the recycle bin as the individual in question may be spending a considerable amount of time on JA/JB with that attitude.

    Ignore it.

    Hi guys,

Thank you, I checked and it is his CV, easy to Google from the email I t came from and Cv references.

    Silly from his part.

Thanks all, and yes I will just live it now, I suppose I just needed to make sure I was crazy and found it strange alright.
