That moment you realise your OS isn't on an SSD

    That moment was tonight.

I was just randomly messing about with my computer waiting on a game to download. I'd noticed over the last while my OS was pretty slow loading up. Actually it had been going on for some time.

So while waiting I decided to look into it. And it dawned on me. My OS and core programmes..were not on an SSD.

Long story short I had to RMA an OCZ agility three times and vowed not to use it again as it was utter garbage. I reinstalled windows on a normal HDD and was meant to buy a new one...and I never did. That was about two years ago.....my god.

I had bought an M4 crucial 120GB. It houses my games and its brilliant. But now I need to buy a new SSD to put my OS in. Looking for recommendations.

The same M4 Crucial is now only 60 euro, half what I paid two years ago. Hasnt let me down so figure I'll go same again.

Hearing s lot about Kingston and they have a 120GB nearly 20 euro cheaper. 120GB should be enough but could be enticed by s bigger one if the price is right.

You could save yourself a few notes and transfer your games to a mechanical HDD, wipe the M4 and install your OS on it.

The other option is to get a new OS drive, something like a Crucial M500-all round better performance; a Samsung EVO wolud be another option.

Yeah thinking of getting another SSD. My current M4 houses all my games that I mainly use.

So looking into another 120GB or 200+GB.

I would go with a Samsung SSD 850 Pro 128 or 256GB, dependant on budget.

Went with a Crucial Mx 256GB in the end, Samsungs were coming just over what I had on a gift card

I likes the Samsungs, but make sure your SATA interface won't be a bottleneck - not much point in spending money on a 500MB/s+ read/write rate if your motherboard can only do SATA 2 for example.

Good choice on crucial. You can't really go wrong with Samsung or crucial ssds. Most solid choice out there.
