Hi Everybody! I new on the forum and I need to ask you couple question. I've change my rear derailleur cable couple month ago and it seems to have some friction inside again. Is it possible that dirt got inside again? If yes, can I fix it without changing whole cable (and handlebar tape as well) again? And how to prevent it from happening again. Thanks!

You don't need to change tape to change a gear cable, on any shifter I know.

Is it causing problems with your shifting?

Edit: apparently you're supposed to remove the tape to change a cable, I've never done that.

Yes, gears are hard to shift. Sometimes I have to press twice to get into the wanted gear and then undo once to keep it in place.
Last time I have that done in a bikeshop they told me that tape have to go off as well. But its been just couple months and since then and the problem came back...

Is it difficult to move the shifter or is it just not going into gear the first time?

If the latter it might be the indexing of the gears. What kind of derailleur is it?

it's not going into gear, I have Shimano Claris Derailleur.

I've adjust derailleur couple times already the problem is, then I set my low limit screw and try to change gears they just won't go, have to click couple time to do so, and when I want to go back on the lowest gear it just won't come back. Cable looks tight but if I pull it by hand it loose up a bit and then chain go on the lowest gear.

    try lub your cable

Check that the ends of the outer cable sections are properly seated in the stops. (if the inner cable loosens up when you pull at it, it sounds as if it might not be correctly fitted)

Yep. I'd try this. It does sound like a fouled cable.

Drip oil down and inside all your outer cables, don't pour. Pull the inner cables back and forth to work the oil into them.

    Hopefully that'll free them up.

You haven't adjusted the cable tension correctly. Start from the beginning again. Do exactly what that video shows you.

I agree with this, sounds like the cable simply isn't tight enough.

Hi guys! Sorry for late respond. I found problem. Yes, it was cable. It was worn out. Brought new one and everything goes smoothly again. Thanks for all the help! See you on the road!
