    Hi guys,
I have a quick question regarding background checks for a potential employee.
I recently got offered a job with a financial company pending a background check and im a bit worried about it.
6 or so years ago I got caught with a substance but was never charged or brought to court or anything like that. I know im this is on the pulse system but just as a entry.. My question is will this show up in the background check that they carry out.. I had a check before to goto the states and it was fine but im wondering is this more thorough?

    Any help appreciated
    Regard
    CB

No, nothing will appear on your background check.

It depends on what kind of check you submitted to. If you gave them a data protection waver then they could access it. If it was a Garda vetting check or simple convictions check then it wouldn't show.

can i ask you mate. why would it be entered on the system and nothing happens after like a court apperance?

That would be a criminal offence they would be committing

    Doesn't stop them.

Well, why would the Garda take drugs on you, enter it into pulse yet no action taken after?

Plenty of reasons. They might have decided to let you off with a warning but left the info there in case you are stopped again. (There is no provision for an adult caution to be given for minor drug offences). They could have screwed up the chain of evidence making a prosecution unlikely to succeed. They might not have been able to justify the search with sufficient cause that would satisfy a judge.

I doubt there was no justification if they did indeed find drugs. Just might not have been enough for a court.

If they asked you to request a FOI check that is illegal.

Garda Vetting will show you as clear.

I'd say 80% of the country has a entry on the Pulse system.

    You've zero to worry about.
