Liverpool vs Bolton Heskey FC - 5:30pm FA Cup 4th Round

With my one and only match thread being this absolute clusterfuck when Suarez bit Ivanovic, its seems like now is as good as time any to go for thread number 2. Who knows, Emile Heskey may go mad on his return and bite Dejan Lovren in the face. Wouldn't that be fun?

Interesting to see what type of side is played with the 2nd leg against Chelsea next Tuesday. When the usual team leak is supplied, I'll add it to the thread.

    BBC Preview

    Let the entertainment begin.

The last time these two teams met at Anfield in the FA Cup Bolton were the winners. It was 1993, and I remember it. Sweet Jaysus

One of the final nails in Souness's coffin, if not that final one.

Liverpool and Bolton have faced each other at Anfield six times in cup competitions. Liverpool have only won once

One win in six at Anfield:eek:

It'll be interesting to see who Rodgers starts with.

Is the last time we played Bolton, that game under Kenny when he lambasted the players afterwards?

They walked through us all day long and we lost 3-1, I think. One of the worst games I've ever seen.

Heskey will get a great reception from the fans and deservedly so.

You're thinking of Bristol City! The Bolton game was at least a year before

Emile Heskey gets a lot of stick, but I'd like it on record that he was absolutely brilliant in our treble winning season. He got 19 goals, a superb partnership with Owen and an absolute beast.

The problem with Heskey was he never used his power enough to bully defenders. He was like a gentle giant. He should have been a bully.

Anyway, Heskey was alright and he'll get a very very warm reception tomorrow.

Can't wait for this match. As a Bolton supporter, it's good to be able to watch them on TV!

I still remember the sport tabloid headlines back then - "Chop Suey" or "Sou Mess" and later in the Evans era "From Babb to worse". Oh how we laughed.....and cried.

    Leaked line up

    Mignolet/Johnson/Can/Sakho/Manquillo/Allen/Henderson/Enrique/Coutinho/Lallana/Sterling

dunno if its from the usual source though - hope its wrong Sterling ought to be rested for Chelsea and an actual striker selected.

Expect the usual half dozen mentions by the commentators of "Heskey's middle name is Ivanhoe"

    Ironic given his shooting ability

I doubt very much that'll be the line up. 3 full backs in the line up, none of them could play as a CB

He has played Johnson as one of the three at the back a couple of times already.

Not mad on the supposed line up, think Manquillo is suited to a traditional full back role as opposed to a wing back, Johnson playing as a rcb defies belief. Am interested to see how Allen fares, tbh you wouldn't have even realised he was missing given our form but still interested to see how he does in a 2 man midfield with hendo.

No need to rest Sterling...he's had what, one game since his break?

Shame to see Johnson back in if that line up is correct, a manager can end up looking very unintelligent if he tries to play 3 at the back with the wrong players.

That's surely 4 at the back though, if that's the team?

    Only 1 recognised CB there

'The Rodgers' seems to have converted Chandsome into a world class centre back. I thought with three full backs one of them would be filling in in the back three.

A warning at City, as if we needed it, that today is likely to be tough.

    Nothing will be easy.

Botlon have been pretty good under Lennon so far as well. I'm certainly not very confident of a win.

Likewise. If this was pre Lennon I'd be confident of a Liverpool victory.
He will definitely have Bolton well organised. Can see Liverpool getting a bit frustrated this evening.

    Manquillo at RB.
    Johnson at LB.
Can & Sakho the CB pairing

That's my take anyhow. Surprised that the 3 at the back + wingback has been changed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

I think we'll still go three at the back, tbh.

    Mig
    Can Sakho Johnson
    Manquillo Enrique
    Allen Henderson
    Lallana Coutinho
    Sterling

Can understand the need to rest Lucas but Allen rarely does enough for me.

Honestly, everything is backwards. The FA Cup has gone mad.

I'm off to put money on a Heskey hattrick.

I expect this but maybe Can on the left side of the back 3 (believe he played at left back quite a lot) and Johnson as the RCB.

I'm not mad on that team to be honest. That's a back 3 that have never played together and then you take out the steel Lucas offers us.

It doesn't fill me with confidence.

We better win because there will be massive question marks about that team selection if not
