    Im looking for a cheapish greenhouse, just for propagating onion, carrot, cauliflower and lettuce seeds before planting them in spring. I don't really want to pay anything more then E35. What would everyone thing of this one on Argos;
    type in 720/1833 into the search box (cant paste the url cos im knew on here)

    Ratings seem good and its had E11.00 knocked off the price

    No not looking to grow commercially.
    im looking to plan some onions soon and I don't think they would survive in somewhere that isn't warm. Also there are cats around the house and theyd only love to dig up fresh dirt on a window sill.

    Hello Topmanamillion

    The one thing to look out for with budget mini greenhouses is the type of cover used
    Try and get them with a reinforced cover as they last way longer and can be used over the winter months.
    The lighter covers are not suitable for winter use - as the frost can damage them

    You could also consider a low coldframe as these are perfect if you are only growing a small quantity of vegetables

    Which ever you could try and select a sheltered spot in the garden as these greenhouses are prone to blowing over!

    Hello Topmanamillion,

    I'm diverting from the point of your post here but just a little pointer.
    You mentioned in your opening post you wanted to use it to propagate a number of vegetables including carrots.

    Never transplant carrots sow them directly into the ground you will be harvesting them from. Carrots dont like being transplanted.

    Thank you everyone for your replies, particularly tango9. I went into Woodies in the end and happened to find a well built coldframe for E20. Very happy with it so far very sturdy. I have onions and cauliflower seeds in it at the moment.
