    Hi all,

Bit of an unusual one here but here goes....

Herself has a 2009 Fiesta in great condition very few km's on it etc.

Anyway, the bloody seat belt alarm is going off constantly for no reason at all. We she is in the car and has her belt on the alarm keeps beeping every 30 seconds or so. It might stop for a few minutes then its back again. It has even been ok for a few days at a time then its back again and angrier than ever.

I initially thought she had a handbag on the passenger seat or something but she didn't and I have driven the car a good few times and the same noise happens to me.

I have turned off the seat belt alarm by clipping in and out the belt 9 times I think and now you can drive without the belt clipped in for a few minutes but then the bloody noise just goes off again.

Google hasn't come up with anything so would anyone have any idea how to disconnect what I presume is some kind of pressure pad underneath the seat?

You can deactivate the chime in these by holding the belt release button in and inserting and removeing the belt buckle into its holder 10 times straight after each other. . . . . the chime should sound once, the seatbelt warning is now turned off.

Thanks, but tried that already and it still goes off. It will be grand with no noise even driving without a seat belt for a while and then it goes off again after a few minutes.

looking online, the magik number seems to be 9 rather than 10

Reset the seatbelt warning system on Mk7 Fiesta:

    1. With the key out, insert it into the ignition and turn it so that the dash lights up (don't start the engine!)
    2. Buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt 9 times (yes, it has to be exactly 9 times, don't ask me why!)
    3. The seatbelt warning light should flash briefly to indicate a reset.
    4. Turn off ignition and take key out.
    5. Now try putting the seatbelt on and driving away, hopefully it will be reset now.

Cheers but I have done the reset and it still goes off believe it or not.

I have the same problem with an s-max and have to carry out the above routine on a regular basis. Sometimes it can go a month without re-occurring while other times it only lasts a few days.

    Bloody nightmare isn't it!

Will keep doing it so. Cheers for that

Failing the above why not bring it into have it checked out by local Indy?

The wiring under the seat may be chaffing or a bad connection loosen the seat and inspect the wiring.

Had a similar problem in a mazda 3. Was a broken wire in seatbelt buckle in back seat. I just joined the 2 wires going into buckle. Might be different on a fiesta?
