Blue light blocking glasses for better sleep?

Just wondering if anyone has seen amber/orange lensed glasses for sale in Dublin? The ones that block blue light from computer screens and phones.

Am trying to improve my sleep and have read that looking at screens late at night can mess up your melatonin levels in the evening. I've read that studies with amber coloured lenses can help with this, so I'm looking for a pair. I know you can get them cheaply enough on Amazon, but I'd rather try and get them in Dublin first.

Am going to try places like Decwells today, the might have safety glasses in there.

If anyone has tried them it'd be good to hear about your experiences.

I'm a divil for watching movies late at night on the laptop with the unavoidable knock-on of ruining a good night's sleep. I installed this a couple of months ago and it's made such a huge difference:

During the day, computer screens look good—they're designed to look like the sun. But, at 9PM, 10PM, or 3AM, you probably shouldn't be looking at the sun.

f.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.
    Hope this helps.

If you are using your phone, download an app called twilight. Its puts an orange overlay on the screen. You can adjust the temperature to your liking. Could possibly be software for laptop and PC available I'd you look.

Thanks for the replies guys, I had heard of F.lux, I must download it for the mac.

I'm not sure it's possible to get apps like these for the ipad & iphone without jailbreaking, I'll look into it. It's the ipad and mac I use the most for watching tv before bed, so they're the biggest culprits. I know you can just put them down for a few hours before bed, but easier said than done!

I thought the amber glasses would be a good all round solution for improving melatonin production, if I pop them on a few hours before bed. I still think I'll look around for a pair.

I put f.lux on my mac last night when using it before bed, I definitely seemed to be a lot drowsier before bed. Still had a bad sleep though, so looking more into sleep hygiene to see if I can stay asleep through the night.

    I got a pair here: http://rentbrightlight.ie/epages/950002270.sf/en_IE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/950002270/Categories/Blue_Blocker_Glasses

I'm not sure how much difference it has made to be honest. But I have M.E./Chronic Fatigue Syndrome where one can easily have problems getting to sleep. I also previously used ordinary wrap-around sunglasses so was possibly already getting some of the benefit.

COI: I have no financial involvement with this company

I never use the internet after around 3 pm and I have no TV. Or mobile phone. Books and knitting are fine after that and with M.E and old age sleep can be erratic so need care with practices that may affect sleep. Just winding down gently is grand. I don' think it is just the light but the whole mental hype and over stimulation that is the problem. Engaging with others in this way.

I'm an editor, and I need to spend more than 8 hours on computer for work. Besides, I couldn't live without my cell phone, which has no good on my eyes and health, I know. And as you said, the blue light is the most terrible part. It can definitely wreak our sleep. This is because blue light can reduce your natural circadian rhythm of melatonin production, which is supposed to help your sleep. The blue-light emitting light sources – computer screens, TV, smartphone screens, and even house lighting – destroy a person’s melatonin, which negatively affects a person’s ability to sleep.

I chose one pair of blue light blocking glasses which is T'aime Optics. Since I'm shortsighted, I chose the clip-on and flip-up one. So far, I enjoy it very much. If I take off it for more than 1 hour, my eyes feel sore and uncomfortable. As for the sleep ability, still on test. Perhaps it helps, but I couldn't feel that. Generally speaking, 4.8 stars for T'aime LightMag (5 stars in total).

Oh, it may have no store on Dublin, but you can place an order on its website. Very simple.

I know this thread is old but I am looking for blue light blocking glasses myself and Gauss Eyewear Glasses seem the best way to go as I am a graphic designer and need my colours to not be effected too much which is what these glasses do.
I also can't stand the yellow tinted glasses!
