looks like i have to wait to get Change of Ownership posted

"You cannot tax your new vehicle until the registration of the change of ownership has gone through. You then renew the motor tax on the vehicle using Form RF100A or online as described below. If the motor tax on your new vehicle has already expired, you are not liable for the arrears period from the expiry of the last tax disc to the end of the month immediately preceding the date you bought it."

Its aheadache alright. You couldbuy a car at the end of a month and might not get transferred for a month or more in some cases, yet you're still liable for the tax of the month you bought the car, meaning the car is not road legal while you are paying for it anyway :pac:

It usually takes about 10 days for ownership to transfer, I bought a car recently and it was done in 6 days.
As soon as the change is done which you can check online you can request a pin and tax the car online, no need for back tax.
