    Hey Peps,

Just wondering what the norm is for your first review in a new job, is it after 6 months or a year.

I'm in a helpdesk role which is a 1 year contract, would I be right in thinking I probably wont have a review until my contract is up.

Different organisations have different performance processes. IMO a good organisation will review your perfromance with you at 1 month, 3 months and 6 month stages. How will you know your not performing well if they dont tell you?

I've only ever been reviewed in perm postitions and not contract positions.
6 months is the norm in a perm role (that I've ever been involved in)

A review as in a salary review or a performance review?

Performance reviews are every six months from my experience and salary reviews are usually held on a particular month, such as Jan or Feb.

Yeah, typically companies do a half-year "check-in", followed by a full-year review and then start the whole cycle all over again. In a one-year contract I'd probably only expect to see a review at six months, if at all, unless there's a chance of your contract being renewed again.

Most companies I've been in have a set review schedule for the whole organisation, e.g. doing full-year reviews in May and half-year in November, regardless of when you started.
