Can anyone please tell me roughly the cost of replacing a Catalytic Converter on a 2003 Hyundi Santa Fe 2.0 Litre Petrol and where would I be able to buy one either new or second hand ? Thank you in advance

Do you know why it needs replacing?

You could fit a second hand one, but who's to know how good/bad condition its in.

Looking at buying a 2003 Hyundi Santa Fe owner says its running fine apart from a noise in the exhaust when driven hard he thought it was a hole in the exhaust pipe but when checked out was told it may need a new catalytic converter !

If your buying then try get about 350-400 off the price of the car for replacement of the cat, then bring the car to an independent tyre & exhaust place and ask them to look at the exhaust for you. It may very well be the cat or it could be a blow from the manifold or a flange on the pipe.

on a different note, do you do much mileage? I ask because the 2.0 petrol Santa fe is not known for its fuel economy. Far heavier then a 2.0 petrol Mondeo or Avensis. Just FYI.

Planning on doing a straight swap for my 02 Mercedes C180 2.0 Petrol also so getting a discount isn't an option but knowing nothing about the mechanics of car/jeep don't want to get something that could cost me dearly !
